Who we are

Dedicated to painting in the “open air”

The First Coast Plein Air Painters (FCPAP) is a group of enthusiastic and dedicated Plein air painters based on the First Coast (Northeast Florida/Southeast Georgia). “Plein Air is defined as a style of painting produced out of doors in natural light.

The purpose of this group is to maintain a strong and active membership, gain sponsorship and exhibition opportunities, build mutually beneficial relationships with other art and plein air groups, and foster Plein air painting on the First Coast.

New members welcome

We are a quickly growing plein air painting organization. Always welcoming new members. We are known throughout the Jacksonville community for our support of the visual arts. attending and painting out during events, embracing workshops, organizations, and participating in juried shows and Events.  The members share and support a special camaraderie for the visual arts.

We are on the move discovering unknown paths. Our paint-outs are along coastal lines, under palm trees, or capturing the the night life in an urban setting. We can be seen creating our vision of the barges, discovering historical locations and documenting them.  We observe wildlife up close along the marshes or at the Jacksonville Zoo. Because we are located in N.E Florida, Jacksonville, we have easy access to historical St Augustine, Palm Coast and the Georgia shorelines.

Our members are enthusiastic painters who recently coordinated with Jacksonville Urban Sketchers. Our painters work in their preferred medium. Popular choice of mediums include acrylics, charcoal, oils, pastels, pencils, pens and watercolors.

We are a friendly and welcoming group who will offer camaraderie to anyone in the visual arts field. Many of our members participate in our  workshops. You will find support group and chance to grow in and develop your artwork.

The group maintains a strong and active membership and build mutually beneficial relationships with other artist and plein air groups.
