Let’s grab our gear and head for one of our favorite places, the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens. We will meet on Friday and Saturday beginning at 8:00 am. The Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens is located just East of I-295 off of Monument Road at 1445 Millcoe Road, in Jacksonville 32225.
FCPAP Paints at Ramblin Rose Farm. Friday and Saturday, February 16 and 17.
Come paint at Ramblin Rose Farm for and opportunity to paint farm animals and scenery. There is always some activity going on at the farm so there should plenty of subject matter to choose from like riding, herding, etc.
There are some rules we need to follow like if a gate is closed and you go through it, please close it behind you.  Feeding any livestock is discouraged although there are several farm sheep that love bread and donuts. If you feed them watch your fingers they have no manners.  There is a black faced ewe named Sophie..that will respond to her name especially if you have bread. She is the only one that knows her name.
If you have questions about where you can go just ask.
There is a picnic table at the pond. There are some chairs and table in the yard you are welcome to utilize.
The road entrance gate is normally kept closed to keep livestock off of 16 in case of escapes.
The address is 3199 State Road 16 West, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043
Take I-295 to US 17 (Roosevelt Blvd.) Head South on US 17 through Orange Park and Fleming Island to Green Cove Springs and turn right on State Road 16. OR Take I-95 South to World Golf Hall of Fame and exit onto International Golf Parkway Westbound to State Road 16 and turn right. Travel on SR 16 towards Penney Farms.  Turn left at the Penney Farms City Limit sign (green).  There is a cemetery on the right. (Paso Fino Road is a Right turn) the Farm lane is the left. WARNING: GPS will dump you at the farm on Highway 16 called Smoak Farm. Ramblin Rose is next drive on left off of 16 (they are behind Smoak Farm.)

New Year New Work

We have a show coming up at th Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach – Breath of Talent. We and the art loving community should be very excited. This is an opportunity to share the best of our current work in a beautiful venue with astute aficionados. Receiving will be Monday, January 22nd from 2-6pm and the Reception is Friday January 26th 6-8 pm (along with their always excitingJuried Artiste Member Exhibit).

Happy Busy New Year!

Wow, do we have a HUGE year on tap for our members in 2018. Shows shows and more shows abound!.

First we have a juried show at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra in February (January 26- March 3rd).

We then have the Brush with Nature event at the Arboretum in March. This combines a Paint Out with a wet and dry show.

John Kenning is trying to secure us a table at the Mandarin Arts Festival to distribute information. We will need volunteers to man the space.

Then we are possibly going back to the Zoo in April. This time we hope to have a dedicated space to hang our work for a longer period of time.

In June we will be showing at FSCJ South Campus Gallery. Beautiful venue! This is also a Juried Show. Some of the details are set and you can find those on our calendar.

In the Fall we have a show at JCA – i.e. The Jewish Community Alliance in Mandarin in September. This is a fabulous venue with lots of appreciative eyes falling on the artwork daily.

Come November we truck down to Melrose (south of OP, south of Middleburg, south of Keystone on SR 21) for a Paint Out at their First Friday Art Walk and then a show at the Mossman Hall. Melrose has a proven track record of sales. It is a very artsy place.

Unique JAX spot

I look forward to painting with fellow members at this unique spot in Jacksonville. It is like a small town in the midst of a big town/city.

FCPAP paints in Ortega Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th.

The area we focusing on is around Cortez Park about a block from Ortega Blvd. Lots of architecture and “small town” feel in this area, especially on Corinthian Avenue. Seminole Park is also just a block away and has waterfront views of the Ortega River. Parking is along the Street, but please be respectful of homes and businesses by not blocking driveways or taking up spaces reserved for patrons.

Directions: Ortega is in West Jacksonville. From the East, take I-95 across the Fuller Warren Bridge until it merges with I-10. Exit left onto Roosevelt Blvd (SR 17). Take Roosevelt Blvd. about 2 miles to San Juan Avenue. Turn left onto San Juan and go over the Ortega Rive via the Ortega Bridge. Once over the bridge, San Juan becomes Grand Ave. Go two blocks and Grand Avenue makes a sharp bend to the right and becomes Ortega Blvd. Travel another 5 or 6 blocks and turn right on Manitou Ave (one block past Corinthian). Manitou runs into Baltic circle and Cortez Park is within Baltic Circle.,-81.7005843,16z

Upcoming Paint Out

I’m so excited by this upcoming Paint Out! The Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens is truly a gem in the area. It is not only one of my favorite places to go, but also one of many of our local artists favorite places to paint. If you are not already a supporter of this great place, you should be. I have literally hundreds of photos from there that are on my list of “Things to Paint”. It is an extraordinary environment. What am I saying!? There are many environments to choose from there. So so varied in their light, plants, and atmosphere.
